What is the deal with licensing in business? Who needs one and who doesn't? Can't I just skip that at my age?
These questions are all very easily answered when you know where to look for the answers. Everyone that is doing business in Washington state making more than $12,000/year must have a business license which informs the state who you are and what you do. In addition some industries have another level of licensing to protect the business person and the public.

It can seem extra but imagine if just anyone started doing nails and cutting hair without training. All we'd have was messed up hairlines and nail infections. Its important that we have the training we need to protect ourselves and our customers.
That said, some businesses don't require additional licensing and that's ok too. Either way, we need to know BEFORE we start our business.
